Untitled #42
Untitled #42 by Räcóacòa
To give all of yourself
You must first believe that someone desires that
To think of love
To think of sacrifice
To think of you
What could be more selfish?
And if to love is to be selfish
Then I must simply be
By the way I am enamored by you
Bound am I
To the thought of eternity
By your side
Whether through devotion
Blind obedience
Or some grand gesture of affection
I bow before the divine
That is blessed with your name
As you gaze upon me
Whether longingly, expectedly
Or simply as I cross your sight
Gracious am I to be someone that is seen
By you
The way you speak
The way you laugh
The way you utter any expression
Is heavenly in and of itself
A sonnet serves no purpose
In substitute for your voice
If a word could describe perfection
It would be your name
And should the end draw near
And my life escape my body
I would not leave this plane until I heard one last utterance
Of your name
